Situation:

The Social Exposome Research Cluster was looking to embark on the development of their first 5-year strategic plan for internal operationalization purposes as well as to assist in securing funding for the research cluster’s second phase. The Social Exposome Research Cluster engaged SDS to support them in the strategic plan exercise.

Our Actions:

In tandem with an identified working group from the Social Exposome Research Cluster, we were able to:

• Conduct a landscape review to identify opportunities and challenges
• Develop the Cluster’s vision and mission and core areas of focus
• Identify strategic goals and activities
• prioritize strategic goals and activities in year 1
• Identify metrics for measuring success
• Identify resourcing goals/needs
• Create high-level recommendations for the sustainability of the strategic plan
• Create activity and metric plans for the first year of prioritized goals and activities

Results:

• The Social Exposome Research Cluster gained clarity on their strategic vision and the goals/activities that were integral towards achieving their strategic vision.
• A detailed operational plan was formulated to assist in procedural execution
• The Social Exposome Research Cluster was successful in securing the second phase of funding available for the research cluster
